Peter Bleakney and Greg Kavanagh’s musical journey began together in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, where they grew up and played music as kids. Their paths first led them to Los Angeles, where they worked side by side for a few years before moving to Toronto, where their careers took different directions.

Peter found success touring and recording with Canadian superstar Anne Murray for over 20 years. His talent then led him to play in orchestras for numerous musical theatre productions, including Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, Mamma Mia!, Dirty Dancing, We Will Rock You, Jersey Boys, Little Shop of Horrors, Matilda, Kinky Boots, Come From Away, Carol King’s Beautiful, and Dear Evan Hansen.

Meanwhile, Greg Kavanagh carved his own impressive path in the music industry. Known to some as the “dance guy” due to his work with BKS, Greg earned three Juno nominations, one Juno award, four Top 10 hits, a MuchMusic Video Award, and sold over three million records. Others recognize him as a world-class multi-instrumentalist who has collaborated with music legends like David Foster, Aretha Franklin, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt.

Greg’s career spans over 25 years, starting at age 16 when he studied guitar and piano, played with rock and R&B bands, and performed in Halifax clubs. He moved to L.A. to study guitar with Lee Ritenour and then to Detroit to join Aretha Franklin’s backup band, gaining invaluable experience.

In the early 80s, Greg moved to Toronto, securing gigs with M+M and Zappacosta, and appeared on CBC specials with talents like Gordon Lightfoot and Judy Collins. He began composing and producing for TV and radio, eventually focusing on building his studio and label, GKM. Greg produced two Glenn Miller tribute albums and a third for international release, achieving remarkable authenticity.

Greg’s state-of-the-art studio, Kavasound, allows him to compose, produce, and engineer for successful artists like Jennifer Warnes, Chrissie Hynde, and Dan Hill. He is currently working on projects with new artists signed to GKM.
